1 Preparing for an Initial Install

  1. Make sure that dependent utilities meet the minimum levels specified in the Software Requirements.
  2. Then follow the First-Time Installation process.

2 Upgrading an Existing Installation

2.1 Preparation

LongJump has been qualified for use with the following software versions. We recommend that you upgrade to those versions to take advantage of the bug fixes and performance enhancements they provide:

  • RedHat Enterprise Linux Server Release 5
  • memcached 1.4.10
  • Apache httpd 2.2.21

2.2 Upgrading an httpd Configuration

If the deployment configuration has the Apache httpd server running in front of tomcat:
  1. Save or print a copy of your existing configuration settings. Make note of the port#s.
  2. Use the content of the httpd-proxy.conf file included in this release, in place of the equivalent settings in your configuration.
  3. Change the port#s in those settings to match your previous configuration.

2.3 Do the Upgrade

You are now ready to follow the Upgrade instructions.

3 Recommended: Run the Platform as a Non-Root User

Running the platform as a non-root user is recommended, for security.
